Kiva
Dear Sunday School Students
and Parents,
We are planning to finish the
school year with an exciting and unique giving opportunity.
Kiva is a program that allows
our Sunday School classes to make loans directly to a person or group
of people in the developing world. For as little as $25, we can make
a loan to people who are willing to work hard to lift themselves out
of poverty, but just need a little help. The class will pick the person
to make the loan to by reviewing a profile of the person and what they
plan to use the loan for. After the loan is made, we will get updates
as the loan is paid back. Once the loan is repaid, the class will lend
the money to a new person.
Our Sunday School classes will
be on the Decorah Lutheran Church Kiva Team. We would like to take a
team picture of the class for a profile picture. Please indicate on
the attached donation envelope if you give permission for your child
to appear in the photo. The profile will be on the Kiva website at: www.kiva.org. For a preview of a team site, look
at: http://www.kiva.org/community/
Pastor Tom talked about Kiva
recently in one of his sermons. Kiva is a great way to see Christian
outreach in action. What a great opportunity to share with our brothers
and sisters in need.
Peace,
The Education Committee
